Have a blinking lights problem with your brand new (or not) controller? It doesn’t sync or work with your PS3 console? I had spent hours online trying to fix it, most of the videos on Youtube are fucking useless. This has worked for both of my controllers, hope it helps.
IMPORTANT: The micro USB cables with resistors will NOT WORK! Resistor is the bulky part of the cable, it will not work because it doesnt deliver enough current to the controller, so you need to make sure it delivers enough power to charge it 🙂
This is the process that worked for me:
1. Plug in the controller using the micro USB cable into the iPhone charger OR into your laptop or desktop (PC is what I have tested on, can’t say anything about the fruity one)
2. While the controller is plugged in, turn the controller with the PS button, while the controller is blinking, use a paper clip to stick into the small Reset hole in the back for 3-5 seconds. The lights should stop blinking and blink again after you release the clip.
3. Unplug the USB wire from laptop OR charger and plug it into the PS3 that was previoulsy turned on.
4. After you plug in you controller, it should blink few times
5. Unplug controller from PS3, hold PS button for few seconds, it should sync. If not, try holding again maybe longer, always works for me.
You are done
IMPORTANT!
If you are NOT able to fix the controller by using my method, you can PM me here and I can offer you to try to fix it myself, for free, only if you pay for shipping to me and back to yourself. I live in Altoona, IA 50009, so that will give you an idea how much shipping might cost. I would use the cheapest US Postal service they can offer, might be $2 or so. If I would not be able to fix it, I will send it back and suggest you buy a different controller. This way you at least try to save yourself $40 or whatever you paid for it and not throw it out.
